Uganda\u2019s long time distance run ,Halimah Nakaayi , has set a season-best time of 1:58.39 to win bronze in the women\u2019s 800m at the Wanda Diamond League held in Shanghai\/Keqiao China at the weekend .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Nakaayi, the 2019 world champion registered a strong finish in a high-calibre field at the China Textile City Sports Centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The race was won by Ethiopia\u2019s Tsige Duguma, who stormed to victory in 1:56.64 \u2013 a Meeting Record, World Lead, and new Ethiopian National Record. Australia\u2019s Sarah Billings followed in second place, clocking a personal best of 1:57.83.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Despite the fast pace set by the leaders, Nakaayi held her ground and closed well in the final stretch to secure third place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Her 1:58.39 not only marked her fastest time this year but also showed promising signs ahead of the World Athletics Championships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
