President Yoweri Museveni has in exercise of his powers under Article 142 (1) and (2) of the Constitution, appointed the Deputy Chief Justice, one Justice of the Supreme Court, and eight Justices of the Court of Appeal on the advice of the Judicial Service Commission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally , Museveni appointed 21 Judges of the High Court in acting capacity into the Judiciary Service for a period of two years from the date of assumption of duty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the same vein, following the conclusion of disciplinary proceedings against her, Lady Justice Bukirwa Faridah Shamilah has been re-appointed as acting Judge of the High Court for a period of one year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The appointments were part of the last activities conducted by the 6 th Commission, led by Justice Benjamin I. Kabiito whose term of office expired on the 21 st of January 2025.
The appointments are in line with the expanded structure of the Judiciary and reflect the Commission\u2019s theme of being the \u2018People\u2019s Bridge to Justice\u2019.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
