This is a step toward justice for the victims of the insurgency,” Justice Gaswaga stated in his ruling.

The claimants, primarily farmers, testified that the loss of their livestock had a devastating impact on their economic and social well-being. Many were left unable to support their families, pay school fees, or sustain agricultural activities.

The Attorney General’s office has yet to comment on whether it will appeal the decision. However, legal experts suggest the ruling could set a precedent for similar cases, potentially opening the government to further claims from victims of past military actions.

Editor:msserwanga@gmail.com

The High Court in Lira has ordered the government through the Attorney General (AG)’s office led by , Kiryowa Kiwanuka,

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[65

post-13676","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-national-news
https://prowebinhost.com/anzu/telecom-giants-mtn-suffer-court-verdict-as-company-is-ordered-to-pay-former-deputy-igp-ug-shs-526m-for-trespass/
TELECOM GIANTS MTN SUFFER COURT VERDICT AS COMPANY IS ORDERED TO PAY FORMER DEPUTY IGP UG.SHS.526M FOR TRESPASS
By Our Lira Correspondent Telecom giant's impunity of trespassing on people’s land and refusing to pay the monetary value has been rejected by the High Court in Lira and has ordered that the company pays the former Deputy Inspector General of Police (IGP) Julius Peter Ocur Odwe, Shs526.9M in punitive…
By Sierra Ruth Arinaitwe The residents of Sheema Municipality in Western Uganda are in high spirits following the commissioning of the Rural Electrification Project in their area.
