Due to concerns raised by CAF\u2019s Technical and Infrastructure experts regarding the readiness of host facilities, the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN) has been postponed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The experts determined that more time is necessary to ensure the infrastructure meets the standards for a successful tournament. The event was initially planned for February. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
On their website, CAF mentioned that significant progress has been made by the hosting nations \u2013 Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda \u2013 in the construction and upgrading of stadiums, training fields, hotels, hospitals, and other infrastructure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
CAF President Patrice Motsepe expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the hosting nations and is confident they will be ready by the start of the competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI would like to express my deep gratitude to President William Ruto of Kenya, President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, and President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda for their leadership, commitment, and the significant progress that has been made in building and upgrading the stadiums, training fields, hotels, hospitals, and other infrastructure in these countries for the successful hosting of the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024,\u201d Motsepe said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI am impressed with the ongoing construction and renovations of the football infrastructure in Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. I am confident that the stadiums, training fields, hotels, hospitals, and other facilities will meet the requisite CAF standards, ensuring the successful hosting of CHAN in August 2025.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The draw for CHAN Is set to take place in Nairobi on Wednesday, January 15.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The tournament has been rescheduled for August 2025, with CAF expected to announce the exact date soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
