{"id":1297,"date":"2020-06-03T09:58:54","date_gmt":"2020-06-03T09:58:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ugandaupdatenews.com\/?p=1297"},"modified":"2020-06-03T10:12:54","modified_gmt":"2020-06-03T10:12:54","slug":"information-minister-clarifies-on-malls-arcades-opening","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/prowebinhost.com\/anzu\/information-minister-clarifies-on-malls-arcades-opening\/","title":{"rendered":"INFORMATION MINISTER CLARIFIES ON MALLS, ARCADES OPENING"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In a Twitter message ,the Minister of Information Communication Technology &nbsp;(ICT) and National Guidance , (NG), Ms. Judith &nbsp;Nabakooba , has reechoed&nbsp; President Yoweri Musveni\u2019s&nbsp; directive on the phased lifting of the 75 day \u2013nation wide lockdown due to the Covid pandemic and stated that it is only shopping malls that will be allowed to re-open and resume business tomorrow&nbsp; June 4<sup>th<\/sup>, 2020. This means that arcades shall remain closed .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>President\u00a0 Museveni \u00a0also directed that KCCA working together with the Ministry of Works and Transport should\u00a0 \u00a0introduce separate lanes for vehicles , bicycles, walkways for pedestrians and boda-bodas in Kampala city . \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Other key aspects of the presidential directives included, 4,000 individuals who were arrested&nbsp; for violating lockdown guidelines will be reviewed&nbsp; for possible release&nbsp; while government will continue to&nbsp; give food to vulnerable communities&nbsp; in Wakiso district and other places .Stand alone shops along Nasser and Nkrumah&nbsp; roads&nbsp;&nbsp; will be allowed to open , churches to remain closed while bodabodas and tuku tukus will not&nbsp; be allowed to carry passengers .<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Public masks will be ready by June 10<sup>th<\/sup> 2020 and given out starting with the most&nbsp; at risk border areas such as Elegu, mutukula, Malaba and Katuna and lock down in all the 40 border districts still remain in force.
