The Government of Japan has signed a grant agreement worth UGX 1.366 billion with Uganda. The grant will support the strengthening of the country\u2019s emergency and disaster prevention systems, a key area of focus for President Yoweri Museveni\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As part of this agreement, Uganda\u2019s Ministry of Health will receive 10 second-hand ambulances and 5 fire trucks. These crucial resources will be allocated across 3 cities and 8 districts, significantly improving emergency response in areas that have long suffered from inadequate equipment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The partnership is expected to bolster Uganda’s preparedness for handling natural disasters, fires, road accidents, and other emergency situations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Japanese government has been a longstanding development partner of Uganda, supporting various initiatives aimed at improving health, infrastructure, and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This latest contribution is set to make a meaningful difference in the country’s ability to handle crises, particularly in remote regions where emergency services are often lacking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Japan\u2019s ambassador to Uganda, while signing the agreement, emphasized the importance of strengthening Uganda’s disaster response capacity, noting that effective emergency services are crucial for saving lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fire trucks and ambulances will be deployed in strategic locations to ensure that they can serve the maximum number of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
President Museveni praised the grant, noting that it aligns with his government\u2019s commitment to improving healthcare and public safety across the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He reaffirmed Uganda\u2019s commitment to its long-standing partnership with Japan, revealing that such collaborations are vital for the country’s development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
