General (Rtd) Caleb Akandwanaho, aka Salim Saleh, Chief Coordinator of Operation Wealth Creation has called for national mobilisation to engage in development activities to fight poverty by increasing people’s income especially the youth . He also said he is not interested in politics .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gen .Saleh was speaking at the pass out of 419 cadres in Gulu district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training program was organised by the Ministry of Information, Communication Technology, and National Guidance from July 19 to 25, 2024, in Lokole-Agago district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The training aimed to empower communities for effective participation in national programs and was attended by leaders from the Acholi sub-region, Resident District Commissioners, Local Government leaders, and youths.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gen Salim Saleh called for mechanised farming to boost production. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Akelo Beatrice Akoli, State Minister for Monitoring and Economic Planning and MP for Agago, thanked Gen Saleh for organising a tour of Terra Agri Farm and Atiaka Sugar Factory. She highlighted how these tours broadened the perspectives of the people in Acholi. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brig Gen Felix Busizoori, the 4th Division Commander, encouraged participants to share their new acquired knowledge with their peers in the local communities to boost production .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brig Gen Busizoori stressed the importance of fighting corruption and promoting national development, urging leaders to reject divisive politics and embrace productivity and new ideas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brig Gen Keith Katungi, Commander 5th Division, urged cadres to change their mindset and embrace hard work following the week-long training. He pointed out that areas with high illiteracy and poverty levels often experience conflict. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

He emphasised the need for communities to utilise government programs aimed at improving their livelihoods. At Terra Agri Farm, Brig Gen Katungi encouraged cadres to adopt the 4-acre model system to their small landholdings without feeling intimidated by large-scale enterprises. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
