President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has told his cabinet members and accounting officers to rally Ugandans for socio-economic transformation by participating in four key sectors which are , commercial agriculture , ICT , Tourism and services to create wealth and fight poverty .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While giving a historical background to his arguments Museveni said if Ugandans are encouraged to work in the four sectors with the support provided in the various government development programs like PDM and Emyoga , many will get in the money economy and improve their livelihoods .\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat’s why I wanted all of you to be here so that we can speak the same language, homestead income with \u201cekibaro\u201d (calculation), the rest will be easy,\u201d he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President was speaking during the seven -day retreat for Ministers, Permanent Secretaries and the members of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee (CEC) at the National Leadership Institute in Kyankwanzi and the Presidential farm in Ngoma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC) management led by Executive Chairman ,Prof. Sandy Stevens Tickodri-Togboa and CEO Paul Isaac Musasiszi interacted with President Museveni who encouraged them to produce more buses for the East and Central Africa region <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Museveni called on the retreat participants to constantly guided Ugandans to embrace effective methods of livestock farming in order to develop the sector which fetched the country USD 386M in the financial year 2022\/23.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI always want to call the MPs from the cattle area, they don’t add on, they are just there where I left them, the situation is the same all this time. If they follow what I tell them the area would be very far,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Attorney General, Hon. Kiryowa Kiwanuka who read out the resolutions of the retreat, said the week-long discussion centred on the fight against corruption and reflecting on the mass approach to embracing the money economy with emphasis on value addition, commercial agriculture, manufacturing and industry,\u00a0 services and ICT.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIn line with the government\u2019s commitment to leadership to steer Uganda\u2019s socio-economic transformation agenda, it was resolved to work as one team and one dream. The three arms of government should closely coordinate and work in harmony,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cIt was also resolved for public service officers to adopt and keep up with technology to enhance efficiency in service delivery, create clear and strategic goals that are citizen-centric and redirect all our efforts to achieve them.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Kiryowa added ,” Underscoring the relevance of civic competence in the development of the country, it was resolved to develop and promote a set of national values to develop socio-economic transformation of our country.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The participants also resolved to deal with the rampant corruption and illegal land evictions in the country.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThe Anti-corruption Act should be amended as well as other relevant laws to deter persons convicted of corruption tendencies from being appointed or reappointed in public service; this will make corruption a very risky venture.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
