Uganda is set to host the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR). <\/p>\n\n\n\n
The event will take place between\u00a0July 1-2, 2024<\/strong>, at Speke Resort Munyonyo, and Godfrey Kabyanga, the State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, said that over 700 delegates are expected for the symposium. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The GSR serves as a platform for regulators to engage in dialogue , share views ,and adopt regulatory best practices guidelines. <\/p>\n\n\n\n With over 700 delegates expected in the capital Kampala, Uganda has a unique opportunity to enhance its global reputation and promote its tourism sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n “Uganda will be introduced to the global ICT scene in a unique way by the symposium, which will help the nation achieve its high ICT goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The government plans to use ICT to leverage economic growth and enhance the lives of its citizens by implementing initiatives aimed at reducing poverty,” he explained adding that Uganda was prepared to host the historic event .<\/p>\n\n\n\n Kabyanga further states that in order to support the digital transformation agenda, the government has invested in ICT infrastructure over the years and established an enabling environment through a strong legal and regulatory framework.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Mr. Nyombi Thembo ,the Executive Director Uganda Communications Commission ,said that by hosting the event ,it underlines Uganda’s commitment to the ITU Council where Uganda is a member. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Editor:msserwanga@gmail.com<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Uganda is set to host the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR).
