Africa, which accounts for 2.0% of the global air cargo market has seen a 10.6% year-on-year demand growth for air cargo in the month of April .<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Demand on the Africa\u2013Asia market increased by 25.8% compared to April 2023.  The April capacity increased by 18.7% year-on-year, according to figures released by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The analysis of the air cargo market is a very useful barometer of trade based on capacity supply and traffic demand.    <\/p>\n\n\n\n

IATA however, noted that the  average cargo load factor was just 42.9%, which is less than half of the available cargo space was taken up by the market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By comparison, the global airline industry reported 11.1% y-o-y growth in demand for air cargo transport against a 7.1% increase in capacity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
