But Ugandans ask ; what about the noisy churches ?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally police ‘s Directorate of Traffic and Road Safety has swung into action impounding some 93 motor vehicles with illegal sirens and lights. The vehicles which are driven by mainly government officials had become a menace for road users .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

They overspeed , overtaking and driving on the wrong side of the road . They had become untouchables forcing ordinary wanaichi off the roads . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ugandans have welcomed this strong stand by the police against errant and illegal behaviour of motorists in Kampala city and major highways .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, police carried out impromptu operations in and around the city that covered the areas of Wandegeya, Katwe, Kabalagala, Kajjansi, Kawempe, Jinja Road, Kiira Division, Kiira Road, and CPS, and impounded vehicles equipped with illegal sirens, roof lights, modified lights, and those found violating one-way rules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A statement released by SP Michael Kananura, the spokesperson of Traffic Police, indicated that the impounded vehicles will be dealt with according to the provisions outlined in the Traffic and Road Safety Act and its subsequent amendments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The drivers who were arrested will be produced in court to address their violations. “This operation will persist until all such vehicles are addressed. As the operation continues, drivers are urged to adhere strictly to traffic laws to avoid penalties and potential legal action,” Kananura stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He said that statements of the errant drivers have been recorded and they will appear in court as per the provisions of the Traffic and Road Safety Act on Monday morning .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
