Government through its lead agency, the National Environment Management Authority has announced that it will periodically be rating cleanness in all cities across the country. The exercise will be designed to encourage smart cities with good waste management practices and good hygiene . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This comes as NEMA moves in to avert the deteriorating situation by eastern Uganda where littering waste management practices are falling apart. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Executive director National Environment Management Authority, Dr Barirega Akankwasa ,said that the on-going general cleaning in Mbale city under the ‘Yonja Uganda’ anti-litter and waste management campaign is intended to revive the historical cleanness of Mbale city and to launch a nation -wide campaign to start rating cleanness in cities across the country . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The exercise will cover the districts of Buikwe Mbale and comprises engagement with local leaders to sensitize and engage the public in sustainable waste management.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
