Hundreds of Ugandans have attended the funeral of the late Dokolo Woman MP, Cecilia Ogwal, who was laid to rest at her marital home in Kole District.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

President Museveni praised the former Dokolo District Woman Member of Parliament as a hardworking citizen, patriot, and diplomat who made significant contributions to the development of Uganda. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This sentiment was conveyed in his message, delivered by Vice President Jessica Alupo, during Ogwal’s funeral at her marital home in Kole District. Ogwal succumbed to cancer on January 18, 2024, at the age of 77.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Executive Director Uganda Cancer Institute Dr. Jackson Orem said the late Cecilia was first diagnosed with cancer of the colon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cA submission was made to us with a diagnosis that she had cancer of the colon, that is cancer of the large gut but when I first met her and had a discussion just to find out how she would want us to handle the issues but the first thing I told her was that we needed to confirm this diagnosis that means we should do additional tests which she agreed to. We did that with the samples that was submitted to us and our finding was that this cancer was arising from the pancreas,\u201dhe revealed .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alupo said that the late Ogwal had a spirit of voluntarism, to do the correct thing at the right time. ” When the president formed this government she was gthe first person to call and congratulate me .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

” But before that, when I was a backbencher , she always wanted me to soeak , to raise my voice . When I was the minister of education , she told me everone under your leadership should be your sons or daughters .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Coming here to celebrate the life of Cecilia Ogwal will give us deep memories in many ways. I want to thank Lameck Ogwal.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alupo also assured the people of Lango that Akii Bua Stadium will be constructed by government . ” Akii Bua stadium was a pledge made by the President himself. The government will build it. We are going to start from where that work stopped.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The President is coming to Lango sub-region soon for his wealth creation program and then the issue will be made clear.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
