Private security guards in Uganda have been ordered not to carry firearms until the end of the on-going Non Aligned Movement (NAM) and G-77 plus China international summits in the capital, Kampala.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some 4,000 delegates, including UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres and heads of state and government, will be attending the 19th Non-Aligned Movement summit being hosted in Uganda. The summits will run until january 23 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police under which the Private Security Organisations (PSOs) operate said movement of private security guards with firearms will not be allowed until end of the month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Police director in charge of operations John Nuwagira told the private security firms to treat the directive with \u201cthe urgency and strictness demanded of you by the situation\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Chairman of The Uganda Private Security Association (TUPSA) , Grace Matsiko in a separate memo urged the PSOs to ensure that all guards are well dressed in their uniforms , keep alert , disciplined and work withe sister security forces to maintain law and order throughout the summits period .<\/p>\n\n\n\n
