Speaker Anita Among has held bilateral discussions with the President of the Senate of Malaysia, Dr Wan Junaidi Bin Tuanku Jaafar.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among said the conference looks forward to immensely benefiting from Dr Junaidi\u2019s experience in climate change management, having led similar efforts in Malaysia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among said Parliaments need to create working framework to address valid concerns on climate change, while delicately balancing such efforts with the need to grow the economies and create opportunities for the bulging populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dr Junaidi said climate change is his pet subject, and that he looks forward to sharing the Malaysian experience with the rest of the commonwealth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He also urged the two nations to deepen trade and investment ties, saying despite being a small island nation, Malaysia has had a long trading tradition and is eager to share their experiences and also learn from fellow commonwealth countries. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The two met ahead of the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Speakers and Presiding Officers Conference, by President Yoweri Museveni at Munyonyo tomorrow .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Earlier Speaker Among also had a bilateral meeting with the Speaker of the Parliament of Ghana, Mr Alban S. K Bagbin, who commended her positive influence in supporting African values and traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort where the 27th Conference of Speakers and Presiding Officers (CSPOC2024) will be held, Speaker Bagbin said international collaboration among parliaments in the world should be based on mutual respect for the different peoples value systems, and not blackmail and intimidation, which he said was worryingly becoming the global trend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among\u00a0urged African Parliaments and National Assemblies to unite and work in unison to advance the continent.
The chairman of the CSPOC 2024 organising committee , Bugweri MP Abdu Katuntu , while addressing the media s aid that the Kayoola Electric buses produced by Uganda’s automakers Kiira Motors Corporation (KMC) have been deployed to transport the international delegates attending the conference .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“We are going to transport the Speakers of Parliament in the Kiira EVS buses to UWEC, Parliament and other places in a bid to demonstrate our use of clean energy and Uganda having a niche in the automobile industry on the African continent. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is a big milestone and we need to show the world that is the trajectory we are on ,” Katuntu stated . <\/p>\n\n\n\n
