One of Uganda’s oldest indeginous financial institutions Centenary Bank is leading a campaign to plant millions of trees across the country as part of activities to celebrate 40 years of existence . This after the bank launched the Centenary Group\u2019s Tier 3 Green data center in Masaka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Centenary Bank has partnered with money bags Roofings Group to plant millions of trees to conserve Uganda\u2019s dwindling and fragile forest cover to mitigate the global effects climate change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While briefing the media, Centenary Foundation, Centenary Bank, and Roofings Group stated that by 2030 the tree planting will deliver some 30 million trees.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Executive Director of Centenary Bank, Joseph Kiwanuka Balikuddembe, said thus: \u201cAs we celebrate our 40th anniversary, it\u2019s imperative to look beyond business success and towards our lasting impact on the planet. This tree-planting initiative is our commitment to the earth and the future generations of Uganda. It\u2019s more than just planting trees; it\u2019s about cultivating a legacy of environmental stewardship and sustainable living.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Annabel Ogwang-Okot the CEO Centenray Foundation noted that the project was not only about environmental conservation.” It\u2019s about reaching the last mile, ensuring that our sustainability efforts uplift the most vulnerable communities. By integrating clean energy solutions, we are not only tackling climate change but also empowering communities with sustainable livelihoods, reinforcing our belief in a future where economic growth and environmental sustainability go hand in hand.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Centenary Technology Services\u2019, Steven Kirenga, chiming in on the initiative, stated, \u201cThis monumental tree-planting project represents the heart of Centenary\u2019s ethos. As we turn 40, we\u2019re not just looking back at our achievements but also planting seeds for a future that is greener and more sustainable. Our vision is to create a legacy that transcends business, one that leaves a lasting, positive imprint on our environment and society.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
