As Kampala prepares for the opening of the much awaited global event, the 55th<\/sup>\u00a0African Airline Association (AFRAA) annual General Assembly ,Uganda and Saudi Arabia have signed\u00a0a Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA)\u00a0to allow scheduled international air services for airlines from two friendly countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The BASA was signed  on November 10, 2023, in Riyadh, on the sidelines of the Saudi-Africa Summit. A Bilateral Aviation Safety Agreement (BASA)<\/strong> is an agreement between two countries that provides for technical cooperation between national civil aviation authorities.  BASAs cover a variety of aviation areas including aircraft maintenance ,flight operations and environment certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA), says the agreement aims to facilitate scheduled international air services for airlines from both countries, giving  Uganda Airlines, an opportunity to have scheduled flights to the oil rich route.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uganda was represented by officials from the Ministry of Works and Transport and UCAA led by Benon Kajuna, the Director of Transport at Ministry of Works and Transport, while Saudi Arabia was represented by officials from the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), led by  Ali Mohammed Rajab, Executive Vice President of Air Transport and International Cooperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This latest milestone comes at a time when all is set for Uganda\u2019s national carrier ,the Uganda Airlines to host the prestigious 55th<\/sup> African Airline Association (AFRAA) annual General Assembly set to open in the capital Kampala on 19th<\/sup> November  and will run up to 21st<\/sup> November 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some 500 African and global aviation delegates are expected to participate in the three day event that will be held at Speak Resort Munyonyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Uganda Airlines CEO Jennifer Bamuturaki is the current president of AFRAA. The delegates that have started arriving in Kampala are being transported on Uganda’s premium products the Kayoola EVS (fully electric buses ) built and sold by automakers Kiira Motors Corporation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
