500 international guests expected in Uganda<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

All is set for Uganda\u2019s national carrier ,the Uganda Airlines to host the prestigious 55th<\/sup> African Airline Association (AFRAA) annual General Assembly set to open in the capital Kampala on 19th<\/sup> November  and will run up to 21st<\/sup> November 2023.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 Some 500 African and global aviation delegates are expected to participate in the three day event that will be held at  Speak Resort Munyonyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 The AGM  will feature the attendance of 40 airline Chief Executive Officers  according to the Uganda Airlines CEO ,Ms. Jennifer Bamuturaki who is also the current President of AFRAA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bamuturaki said discussions during the event will focus on \u201csustainability within the aviation industry.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

 “A lot of time, we come together to discuss challenges and how we can help each other, so it is in these kinds of events that we get to have best practices discusse,” Bamuturaki explained and added that emphasis will be placed on environmental sustainability by reducing  carbon emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bamuturaki, said she will also support initiatives that promote sustainable operations of Airlines on the continent by taking bold steps to invest in research and advocate for open skies through fully operationalizing the Yamoussoukro declarations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The assembly will feature an exhibition showcasing products, solutions, and the latest technologies in aviation, presented by reputable service providers from around the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uganda Airlines CEO and AFRAA President Ms. Jennifer Bamuturaki sp<\/b><\/em>eaking to journalists in Kampala ahead of the 55th AFRAA AGM<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the launch of the preparations for this high level meet , the Minister of Works and Transport Gen. Edward Katumba Wamala said Uganda was priviled to host the 55th<\/sup> AFRAA AGM because it will bring together  Chairmen and CEOs from African airlines, ICAO, IATA, AFCAC, Civil Aviation Authorities, Airport Companies, Air Navigation Services Providers, as well as Aircraft and Engine manufacturers, component suppliers among others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Minister noted that by hosting this high profile international event was a vote of confidence in Uganda and an indication that the revival of the national carrier- the Uganda Airlines  was not in vain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI wish to therefore congratulate the leadership of Uganda Airlines on this achievement in such a short time despite the bumpy start that was aggravated by Covid-19. For the Airline to host such an event in just 3 years of operationalization, shows for the firm and visionary leadership\u201d he added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gen Katumba Wamala said that delegates will enjoy the beauty of nature by visiting Uganda\u2019s  national game parks, go for gorillas-trekking  and immerse themselves in the diverse culture, food, hospitality, and warmth of the Ugandan people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aviation sources told ugandaupdatenews.com <\/strong>among the high profile guests expected is the Director General of the International Air Transport Association (<\/a> IATA)  Mr. Willie Walsh.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event also brings to life optimism in the aviation sector and justification to nurture the next generation of aviators to grow the industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
