Uganda Airlines has opened its new route to  Lagos providing direct flights three times a week from Entebbe International Airport to  Lagos Nigeria Africa\u2019s largest economy .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Uganda Airlines will operate flights to Nigeria three times a week with flights on Mondays, Thursdays  and Sundays, using its 258-seat state-of-the-art Airbus A330-800neo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNigeria is Africa\u2019s largest economy while Uganda\u2019s central location on the continent makes it the ideal connection hub between East, West, North and Southern Africa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The direct flights will yield significant time savings for our guests who will be terminating their journeys in Uganda and those who may wish to travel onward within our network to Nairobi, Dar es Salaam, Zanzibar, Kilimanjaro, Mombasa, Juba, Bujumbura, Kinshasa, Dubai, Mogadishu or Johannesburg and Mumbai,\u201d said Jenifer Bamuturaki the Chief Executive Officer, Uganda Airlines.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a strategic partner, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is collaborating with Uganda Airlines to unpack opportunities that the new route brings in the context of trade and tourism for inclusive and sustainable development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

UNDP is supported 40 businesswomen in the trade and tourism sectors to be part of the inaugural flight. The objective of this support is to facilitate business-to-business linkages for export-ready companies targeting the Lagos and larger West African market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lagos becomes the 13th destination and comes in quick succession to Mumbai, which launched on 7th October. The flight schedule has been arranged to provide as much connectivity as possible for the airlines customers  with minimal waiting times.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Africa with the second largest continent with the second biggest population accounts for only 6% of the global air traffic. Connectivity in Africa is therefore key to unlock commerce and free movement of people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
